In such occassions, full operas were not recorded in full. Instead, especially altered abridged version would be performed to fit the roughly 2 minutes and 15 seconds a period 2-minute cylinder record could offer. Born as Bernice James, she had relative short recording career for different brands. This particular recording from the famous Faust by Charles Gounod was recorded in London and remained the only Edison recording she ever made.
